thebrotheregg

Thebrotheregg is a rock ‘n roll band from Portland, Oregon.  Soaked in virility and freedom, thebrotheregg blasts out great songs, one after the other.  It’s fun to think of thebrotheregg music as a kind of skate rock with both ugly faces and pretty faces.   Portland is a rainy place most of the time, and this band rises above it, turning grey into a color blast, joyful and triumphant.  Don’t be alarmed if you hear a song like “Murky up the Lagoon” and you think it’s like this Velvet Undergroundie type thing with all these string parts and sweet sounds, and then you see one of thebrotheregg live shows and it’s all screaming and yelling and pacing back and forth.  They’ve gone through phases.
Additionally, if you’re wondering about this back catalogue of records by thebrothergg, I urge you to consider that those records are pretty different from the band now.  “Snowflake and Fingerprint Machine” and “Aortica Mor”, both which occurred between 2000 and 2005 or so, are experiments with quite excellent results.   Possibly baroque pop at times, possibly a dark twee, thebrotheregg explored and these were the results. These are unknown classics of our time!
The record with all the bugs on it and everything current is the new thing, the new sound.  The group has gone more live and loud.  It’s a more aggressive stage show, a more confrontational blast.   The guitar sound is alive and glaring back at you from the future.   This fair and balanced journalism does not lie.  thebrotheregg is cool: Check it out.
